In the steel industry, the product
name THENOX® represents a combination
of the traditional cold rolling steel technology at Theis and the basic
feature of stainless steel, good corrosion resistance.
|
When the primary element chromium reacts with oxygen in the air, chromium
oxide forms on the surface of austenitic, ferritic and martensitic steels.
The protective layer of chromium oxide gives the steel a permanent, metallic
appearance, even in a chemically-aggressive environment.
Other elements, such as nickel, molybdenum and titanium may be added
to steel to form alloys which enhance the corrosion resistance of the
steel. Depending on the alloy added, the following desirable properties
can be achieved: good deep-drawing quality; bending or stamping quality;
or increased spring properties.
The THENOX® Precision Strip is made of stainless steels
resistant to rust, acid and heat. The strip is manufactured in a cold
rolling procedure from hot rolled steel strip. Thicknesses range from
0.05 to 1.25 mm and widths range from 3 to 650 mm.
